ABOUT PROJECT
kidsRCool is a children’s museum built around the idea that learning doesn’t have to be quiet, clean, or structured. The identity challenges the traditional expectations of a children’s museum through a playful punk-inspired visual language that celebrates mess, movement, curiosity, and creative chaos. A black-and-white core identity creates a bold foundation, while each play zone introduces its own color palette to give the spaces distinct personalities. Photography, expressive typography, and intentionally busy compositions bring the brand to life, creating an identity that feels as active and unpredictable as the kids it was designed for.
kidsRcool is a personal project that I have worked on! I fully credit the various professionals on the photography and videography used.
Rather than creating a strict grid or set of layouts, the identity intentionally leaves room to break the rules. Type can shift, images can overlap, and compositions can become chaotic. The lack of rigid guidelines reflects the museum’s philosophy that there is no single right way to play, learn, or create.
Each play zone has its own designated color palette to create distinction and help visitors navigate the museum. The colors bring energy and personality to each experience while allowing the overall identity to remain cohesive.
The visual language takes cues from punk culture through bold type, high contrast, cheeky messaging, and a DIY attitude. This pushes the brand away from the overly polished and traditionally “cute” aesthetic often associated with children’s spaces and gives kidsRcool a more unexpected personality.
